About “Ivan the Angelfish”
Ivan the Angelfish isn't just a name, it's a tribute to my grandfather, Ivan Sitalov, and his resilient journey of healing through two wars and PTSD. My name is Evan Johnson, and this project began from witnessing how caring for angelfish helped my grandfather find peace after the hardships of war. From aquascaping, we not only discovered beauty, but also a path to solace and community.
Non-Profit Agency
We bring the wonders of aquascaping and the local ecology of the Santa Clara Valley and beyond to the local community which includes children, individuals with disabilities, seniors, veterans, and more. I teach accessible aquascaping classes and install calming aquariums in clinics, VA hospitals, and centers to promote learning and reduce stress.
